Since 1 April 2026, metro aged care homes that miss their care minute targets can lose up to $33.41 per resident, per day, in AN-ACC funding.
The targets: 215 total care minutes and 44 RN minutes per resident, per day.
In our experience, the gap is rarely just "not enough staff". It's often:
- unfilled shifts that don't get backfilled in the right role
- RN hours spent on non-direct tasks
- skill mix on nights and weekends
- no weekly view of where the minutes are going
A simple weekly dashboard, owned by the DON, catches most of it early.
If your RN minutes are close to the line, a short conversation can help you work out your exposure.
